With great sadness we share the news that Lorraine Breitman-Eras passed away on November 1, 2014, from breast cancer.
She would probably note with her trademark humor that the timing couldn’t have been stranger. It was shortly after she opened her new office and launched her website that Lorraine received her diagnosis, just a little over a year ago (October 2013).
She quickly realized she would have to put her law practice aside to concentrate on her treatments and her family, and would not fulfill her dream of running a solo practice dedicated to divorce mediation and collaborative law for the time being. Unfortunately, she was never able to return to practice, although she had a wonderful career in family law prior to starting her solo practice.
About six months ago, through her own experience of long chemotherapy sessions and dealing with the nasty side effects, Lorraine decided to give back to others (no surprise to those who knew her) by making adorable handmade fleece blankets to give away to hospitalized children who were dealing with cancer. She plunged into this activity with great enthusiasm, uplifted by the smiling little faces that greeted her in appreciation upon delivering her goods.
Lorraine passed away with dignity, at home, with amazing life lessons passed down to her children, and decades of happy memories and lots of laughs for her husband, Alan to share with them for years to come.
